Madonna Kissed Drake Onstage at Coachella, and Drake's Reaction Was Interesting

Monty Brinton/CBS (INDIO, Calif.) — Madonna smooched with Drake onstage at Coachella Sunday, marking the music and arts festival’s most talked-about moment of the weekend.

The kiss happened as Drake, 28, was seated onstage. Madonna, 56, slinked behind him as the music ended, tilted Drake’s chin backward, brushed her hair out of the way, and planted a kiss on his lips.

The crowd cheered.

This wasn’t a simple peck — this was a full-on smooch, seven seconds of intimacy and lunacy. The Canadian-born rapper moved his hand to Madonna’s hair, but she yanked it away, continuing the kiss.

Eventually Drake’s enjoyment seemed to fade. As the kiss broke he leaned forward, holding his mouth in agony or disgust, pain or confusion.

“I’m Madonna,” she said, as if anybody wasn’t aware. The stage dimmed as she walked away, the spotlight following her.

Drake remained stunned in the moments after the kiss.

“What the f— just happened?” he asked, laughing.

The moment was ignited by Drake’s latest mixtape, which contains a track called “Madonna.” The Queen of Pop later divulged to Us Weekly that she would love to go on a date with Drake, “and only kiss him.”

Madonna is known for these sorts of spontaneous displays of very public affection — think Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV VMAs. But normally Madonna’s kissing companions don’t have such a strong reaction.
