Madonna Does Stand-Up Comedy on “Tonight Show”

Douglas Gorenstein/NBC(NEW YORK) — Madonna visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday to plug her new album, Rebel Heart, and also try her hand at stand-up comedy.

The singer confessed to Fallon that she’s “kind of a closet comedian” and would like to add that to her resume someday. When the Tonight Show host told her, “You can do it now, if you want to,” Madonna took him up on the offer.

Noting that it’s good to “talk about what you know,” the 56-year-old singer launched into a series of jokes about her history of dating guys who are much younger than her.

Here’s two of her jokes:

“I did find myself, very strangely, the other day at breakfast with my [14-year-old] son Rocco, thinking ‘I haven’t had a date in a couple of weeks.’ And I looked at my son without thinking and I said, ‘Do you have any friends you can introduce me to?'”

Of a 28-year-old she once dated, Madonna quipped, “I have a Picasso over my fireplace…He looked at that and said, ‘I know what that is…Picasso…He painted the Mona Lisa.'”

Before the interview, Madonna joined Fallon and his house band The Roots for one of the show’s recurring bits — performing a song using classroom instruments. They performed a rendition of Madonna’s 1983 hit, “Holiday” with the singer playing a cow bell and whistle.

Madonna admitted during her chat with Fallon that she’s “definitely not cool enough” for her four kids. “They remind me every day about how uncool I am,” she told Fallon.

Later in the show, she was joined by Diplo for a performance of “B***h I’m Madonna,” from her Rebel Heart album. The performance included Fallon and Roots drummer Quest Love joining in on the chorus.

Rebel Heart is Madonna’s 13th studio album and features collaborations with various musicians, including Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Avicci.

Madonna will promote Rebel Heart with a world tour which kicks off Aug. 29.
