What's Up with the ‘No Kardashian Parking’ Signs Around Hollywood?

Brian Bowen Smith/E!(LOS ANGELES) — If you were in Hollywood Wednesday, you may have noticed some new parking signs — ones that read “No Kardashian Parking Anytime.”

Several signs were posted from Melrose Avenue to Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles, apparently making it harder for the reality TV family to park around town.

Thankfully for the stars of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the signs aren’t real. They were designed by street artist Plastic Jesus, who said he was inspired to create the signs after seeing paparazzi hound a Kardashian sister when she was leaving a storefront in Los Angeles.

He wondered, “When did a family going about their daily business, shopping, going to lunch or pumping gas, when did that become a news event, which it clearly has now?”

Plastic Jesus, who also created the “Stop Making Stupid People Famous” campaign, faults the media for what he perceives as its obsession with the Kardashians.

He explained to ABC Radio, “It’s an easy target for mainstream media to start picking up on this celebrity-type news purely to pick up hits on websites and circulation. Let’s concentrate more on the issues that are affecting people in everyday life, things like debt, pollution, the food that we eat, in southern California the drought.”
