“Twin Peaks” Cast Posts Video Appeal in Support of David Lynch

Glenn Hunt/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Twin Peaks without David Lynch is…enough to get the show’s cast to make a video.

After the director and Twin Peaks co-creator tweeted Sunday that he was dropping out of Showtime’s planned 2016 revival of the cult series, former cast members contributed to a video supporting Lynch, each declaring, “Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like…”, and then each cast member finishing the sentence.

The video begins, fittingly, with actress Sheryl Lee, aka Laura Palmer, the character whose murder was at the center of Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like a girl without a secret,” she says. She’s followed by Dana Ashbrook, Sherilyn Fenn, Audrey Horne, Mädchen Amick and others, including Lynch’s daughter, Jennifer Chambers Lynch. The video ends with the hashtag #SaveTwinPeaks.

Conspicuously absent from the video appeal is Kyle MacLachlan, who will reprise his role of FBI Agent Dale Cooper in the Showtime series.

In a statement obtained Sunday by ABC Radio, Showtime responded to Lynch’s announcement by saying, in part, that they were “saddened” by Lynch’s statement, adding, “…we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. Showtime also loves the world of Twin Peaks and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.”

There’s no public word yet on whether Lynch and Showtime have come to terms, or indeed continue to negotiate.

Twin Peaks debuted on ABC 25 years ago Wednesday — April 8, 1990 — and ran for two seasons.
