Will Ferrell Says He's Cancelled His Lifetime Movie

Mike Coppola/Jamie McCarthy/NBC(NEW YORK) — We hope you weren’t too excited for Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s Lifetime movie, because they may have cancelled it.

Multiple outlets reported on April Fools’ Day that the two stars had secretly filmed a Lifetime movie titled A Deadly Adoption. It was described as a campy thriller about a couple who takes in and cares for a pregnant woman whose unborn child they hope to adopt — only to have things go awry.

Ferrell now says he’s “deeply disappointed” that news of the reported project leaked. He says in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”

However, a source tells TheWrap.com that Lifetime is moving forward with the movie, and that Ferrell’s statement may have been a ploy in response to the leak.

The initial reports stated A Deadly Adoption is set to air in the summer.
