Vanilla Ice Accepts Plea Deal in Burglary Case

The “Ice Ice Baby” rapper on Thursday accepted a deal to perform community service following his arrest in February for allegedly burglarizing an abandoned home in Florida.

Under the terms of the agreement, Vanilla Ice, whose birth name is Robert Van Winkle, will perform 100 hours of community service and pay the deceased homeowner’s estate more than $1,100, according to the Palm Beach Post. In return, grand theft and residential burglary charges will be dropped.

Van Winkle said after Thursday’s hearing, “I never had any criminal intent. It’s just unfortunate, but here we are. I’m moving forward.”

According to an arrest report obtained by ABC News in February, Van Winkle, 47, told police “he was going to purchase” the Palm Beach County home where the goods were taken from, even though he “did not have any type of contract or down payment on the property.”

The home is located near a residence that the former rapper does own and was renovating. According to authorities, the missing items — which included furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items — were found at Van Winkle’s property and later returned to the owner.
