Jon Hamm Says He's ‘Glad’ “Mad Men” Is Ending

Carin Baer/AMC(NEW YORK) — The end is near for Mad Men, and while many fans will miss the critically acclaimed drama, Jon Hamm, who plays the womanizing ad man Don Draper, believes it’s going out on a high note.

Hamm recently told ABC Radio at a premiere party for the episodes, “I’m glad that it ended when it did and I’m glad we got to tell the story we got to tell. I’m glad I’m still upright and got a few miles left in the odometer and a few gallons left in the tank.”

He said he’s looking forward to “taking some time off and appreciating it and watching the next seven [episodes] with other folks.”

If Hamm can’t find any folks to watch the episodes with him, he does have a backup plan. He joked, “I’m going to watch them broadcast on the side of a moving taxicab while I’m rollerblading next to it. So it’s gonna be weird for a lot of people in New York because we’re going to have to clear off some streets, but that’s the way I want to watch them.”

When the first half of the show’s seventh and final season concluded last May, Don had a vision of agency partner Bert Cooper dancing and singing “The Best Things in Life Are Free,” following Cooper’s death.

AMC will air the first of the show’s final seven episodes on Sunday night at 10 p.m. Eastern time.
