“America’s Got Talent” Host Nick Cannon Teases What to Expect on 10th Season

ABC/Jeff Neira(NEW YORK) — Nick Cannon is set to return as the host of America’s Got Talent this summer. He tells ABC Radio viewers should expect some changes during the competition series’ tenth season.

“This year a lot of the deliberation amongst the judges will be a little bit different. Obviously they implemented the Golden Buzzer last year. Now it’s gonna be able to do some really cool things,” he teases.

The Golden Buzzer allows judges to send an act straight from an audition to the Radio City Music Hall stage to compete for the big prize in front of America. Each judge can only hit the buzzer once.

Cannon adds, “Really it’s the same show, everything that you loved about it in the previous nine seasons, we’re just stepping it up for season 10.”

NBC announced Thursday that fans should expect a bigger competition. In fact, for extreme or dangerous acts that can’t be performed inside a theater, the competition will go outdoors to the Fairplex in Pomona, California.

Also, contestants will have to undergo an upgraded boot camp round of auditions, starting July 14. Then America will enjoy the live performances, starting Aug. 11, where the top 36 acts will go on to compete for America’s vote.

Cannon tells ABC Radio the ten-year mark has double significance. “It’s exciting because not only is it the tenth year of America’s Got Talent, it’s also the tenth year of [the MTV series] Wild ‘N Out so I’m feeling old,” he admits. “I feel like I’ve been doing this for quite some time.”

The tenth season of America’s Got Talent will premiere May 26 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
