“New Girl,” “The Americans” Among Series Renewed for Another Season

Fox(NEW YORK) — Zooey Deschanel is the renewed girl on Fox.

The network announced Tuesday it has picked up her comedy, New Girl, for a fifth season. This means the show will reach the 100-episode milestone during the 2015-2016 TV season.

David Madden, president of entertainment for Fox, said in a statement, “Four seasons in, New Girl continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television…We absolutely love this show and we’re so excited to bring it back for Season Five.”

Fox’s sister cable network, FX, made news on Tuesday as well, announcing that it has renewed The Americans for a fourth season that will premiere in 2016. The drama stars Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as husband-and-wife Russian spies.

Elsewhere on the renewal front, Showtime will bring back its Don Cheadle-Kristen Bell comedy House of Lies for a fifth season, and Netflix has picked up its recently-debuted thriller Bloodline, starring Kyle Chandler, for a second season. New episodes for both series will premiere in 2016.
