Kate Hudson Says She and Ex-Fiance Will ‘Be Family for the Rest of Our Lives’

Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy still seem to be on good terms after splitting last year. In fact, the two are still the co-owners of Hudson Bellamy Wines.

The actress said their failed relationship won’t stop them from creating wines together.

“We’re family for the rest of our lives, we have a beautiful baby and we love making wine. We’ll continue doing it,” she told Wine Enthusiast magazine.

The two, who ended their engagement last December after a four-year romance, have a three-year-old son, Bingham Hawn Bellamy.

Hudson said she was inspired to create her own wine company thanks to her “stepdad,” actor Kurt Russell. He’s the longtime partner of her mother, Goldie Hawn.

When asked if there is anything about winemaking that’s like filmmaking, Hudson told the magazine, “I wouldn’t stretch it that far, but I would say that I did have the realization of how creative the process really is.”

“But what’s very different from making movies is that everything in wine is connected to nature,” Hudson continued. “Your grapes can only be as good as your year. That is one of the things that makes it very special and incredibly unique. You are at the mercy of your crop, and I love that. Though, we are telling a story. Every bottle has a story, and when you sit down and drink it, you feel connected to that story.”
