Disney Working on Live-Action “Mulan” Movie

Disney(NEW YORK) — Disney is bringing back another princess for a live-action film. The studio will develop a live-action version of Mulan after acquiring a script for the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An animated Mulan film, focusing on the titular female warrior, opened in theaters in 1998, featuring the voices of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Ming-Na Wen and Eddie Murphy.

Mulan
earned more than $300 million worldwide and was nominated for an Oscar for its musical score. A straight-to-video Mulan sequel was released in 2005.

Disney, the parent company of ABC News, currently has a box office hit with the live-action Cinderella. Last year, it found success with Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie as the Sleeping Beauty villain.

Aside from Mulan, Disney’s future live-action projects include new versions of Beauty and the Beast and, reportedly, Dumbo.
