Tahj Mowry Talks About Spring Finale of “Baby Daddy,” New Music

Amanda Edwards/WireImage(NEW YORK) — Tahj Mowry stars as Tucker in the ABC Family comedy Baby Daddy, which centers on a guy whose one-night stand leaves a baby on his door step, forcing him to lean on his two friends to help raise the child.

Wednesday marks the series’ fourth season spring finale, and Mowry tells ABC Radio a lot happens with his character’s love life.

“He’s very down and out so the guys try to do this set up thing for him with this really hot model that he is obviously instantly in love with and things get sort of misconstrued,” he teases, “and I don’t want to give away what happens, but it’s good and it’s really cute for Tucker.”

With Mowry’s TV show going on break, it has allowed the actor to focus on another one of his passions — music.

“Honestly music is a passion of mine and it has been for so long. And I realize that people don’t know that because I never had time to really dive in and do it how I wanted to,” he shares. “And now I’ve got that time during hiatus from Baby Daddy and I’m like, this is it. This is the moment. I’ve gotta do this.”

Mowry calls his sound “futuristic funk.”

“I sort of made that up like while I was creating the music and writing and all that. And I’m like future funk, because that’s just what came to my mind when I listened to my music,” he continues. “Basically my sound is a mix of old school and new school so it’s like a blend of eras and genres. It’s got a futuristic feel to it. It’s very electronic in some parts so that’s where the futuristic part came from, and I’d like to say if you were in the future at a jazz funk club, my music is what you would be hearing.”

Mowry’s first single, “Flirt,” will be released April 28. The former Full House star said the song explains him “in a nutshell…because I’m a huge flirt.”

He adds, “It’s a great song. It has a fun energy. It’s really funky. It’s really, really cool. I think people will really like it.”

After his first single, Mowry said fans can expect a full album. Still, don’t expect his famous sisters — Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housely — to be on the album. “I feel like that would be corny,” he says with a laugh.

The spring finale of Baby Daddy airs Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC Family.
