Shailene Woodley Almost Broke Her Nose While Filming “Insurgent”

Lionsgate/Summit(NEW YORK) — Shailene Woodley is set to kick some more butt in Insurgent, the second film in the The Divergent Series, but the action-filled scenes in the sci-fi thriller also took their toll on the actress.

“The first movie we got banged up a lot. This movie, we didn’t. There wasn’t anything too intense, like little bumps and bruises,” she said on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Michael, before admitting that she banged up her nose.

She added of her injury, “a little bit, but not too bad. It was just like a little crunchy, a little crunchy, crunch. We thought it was broken, but it wasn’t. So it’s all good.”

Woodley is excited for fans to see the sequel to the 2014 film.

“So this film picks up where the last film left off. So it’s post…sort of a civil war break-out within their society,” she explained. “And Tris in this movie is struggling with PTSD and so she’s grieving the loss of her parents, and sort of being witness to this genocide of sorts while also needing to find the tyrannical leader to take her out in order to restore peace within the civilization.”

The Divergent Series: Insurgent, also starring Theo James, Ansel Elgort and Kate Winslet, hits theaters Friday.
