“Hot Tub Time Machine 2”; “McFarland, USA”; “The Duff Open” Friday

“The Duff” – Lionsgate(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:

Hot Tub Time Machine 2
— The cast of the 2010 comedy returns, minus John Cusack. This time, Rob Corddry’s Lou is shot by an assailant, and his friends have to save him. Clark Duke and Craig Robinson also star. Rated R.

McFarland, USA
— Kevin Costner plays Coach Jim White, who builds a cross-country team at a predominantly Latino high school in a rural California town. The film is inspired by a 1987 true story. Rated PG.

The Duff Parenthood’s Mae Whitman plays a high school senior who’s known by her classmates as “The DUFF” — the designated ugly fat friend. She tries to reinvent herself with the help of a jock. Bella Thorne, Robbie Amell and Ken Jeong also star. Rated PG-13.
