Vanilla Ice Arrested for Burglary in Florida, Police Say

Photo by Paul Warner/Getty Images(LANTANA, Fla) — Vanilla Ice has been arrested in Florida, authorities said on Wednesday.

The former rapper, whose real name is Robert VanWinkle, was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with burglary residence and grand theft, according to a Chief Sean Scheller at the Lantana Police Department.

This past December, the police investigated a burglary at a home near a residence VanWinkle has been renovating. According to authorities, the missing items — which included furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items — were found at VanWinkle’s property and later returned to the owner.

Scheller told ABC News that VanWinkle is currently working with investigators and will be charged when he is booked at the county jail.

A rep for VanWinkle has not yet responded to a request for comment.

VanWinkle, who is perhaps best known for his hit song, “Ice Ice Baby,” has a home renovation show on the DIY Network, The Vanilla Ice Project.

It is unclear whether this property is affiliated with show.
