“Boyhood” Wins Top Film Prize at BAFTAs

“Boyhood” – IFC(LONDON) — Boyhood was named best film Sunday in London at the British Academy Film Awards, the U.K. equivalent of the Oscars.

The drama also scooped up the supporting actress award for Patricia Arquette and the director prize for Richard Linklater.

The Theory of Everything
was named outstanding British film, and its star, Eddie Redmayne, accepted the leading actor prize.

Julianne Moore won the leading actress award for Still Alice. J.K. Simmons was victorious in the supporting actor category for Whiplash.

All four of the aforementioned stars are considered strong contenders for the Oscars, which will be held Feb. 22 in Hollywood.

The Grand Budapest Hotel won the most awards of any film at the BAFTAs with five, including original screenplay honors for Wes Anderson.
