Chris Pratt-Chris Evans Super Bowl Bet Leads to $27K in Charitable Donations

ABC/Adam Taylor/Randy Holmes(SEATTLE) — A lot of good has come out of Chris Pratt and Chris Evans’ well-publicized Super Bowl bet.

Seattle Children’s Hospital announced Thursday that nearly $27,000 was raised for both their facility and the nonprofit organization Christopher’s Haven in Boston, thanks to fans of the Marvel stars who made donations as a result of the attention the bet received.

Seattle Children’s Hospital has raised nearly $15,000. Christopher’s Haven, which provides supportive housing for families whose children are receiving outpatient pediatric cancer treatments in Boston, has raised nearly $12,000.

Lisa Brandenburg, president of Seattle Children’s Hospital, says in a statement, “We are grateful that real-life superheroes Chris Pratt and Chris Evans are turning their sports rivalry into an opportunity to support kids in their communities.”

Joyce Duvall, executive director of Christopher’s Haven, adds that Evans and Pratt “turned a simple, friendly wager into something very significant for both Christopher’s Haven and Seattle Children’s Hospital. The fun and goodwill that they have generated will stay with the children a long time.”

More than a week before the Super Bowl, Evans, a New England Patriots fan, and Pratt, who roots for the Seattle Seahawks, agreed to a bet on Twitter. If the Seahawks were to win the game, Evans would have to visit Seattle Children’s Hospital as Captain America. If the Patriots were to emerge victorious — which turned out to be the case — Pratt would have to make an appearance at Christopher’s Haven as his Guardians of the Galaxy character, Peter Quill/Star-Lord, in a Tom Brady jersey.

After Sunday’s game, Evans promised that he and Pratt will visit both Christopher’s Haven and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

The two watched the Super Bowl in person together, along with Pratt’s wife, Mom actress Anna Faris.
