Marion 'Suge' Knight Arrested for Murder in Deadly Crash

David Becker/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) —  Rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was arrested and booked for murder Friday and held on $2 million bail over a fatal crash Thursday in Compton, California, authorities said.

Knight’s attorney said he was behind the wheel in the accident, which killed one man and injured another.

The Death Row Records founder apparently got in a fight on the set of a promotional shoot for the biopic Straight out of Compton, about the group NWA.

According to attorney James Blatt, Knight claims he was attacked by two people and while driving away, he struck his friend with his vehicle, killing him. Another man was injured in the incident.

The vehicle involved in the incident was described as a red Ford F-150 Raptor, similar to Knight’s vehicle, authorities said.

Knight remained at large for a number of hours after the incident. KABC-TV reports Knight arrived at the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood station early Friday morning, and homicide detectives interviewed him.

Corina says witnesses at the scene said the incident “looked like it was an intentional act,” and as a result, police are “handling it as a homicide.”

Robert Smith says he witnessed the deadly incident. “I turned to look out, and I [saw] Suge Knight turn around and go to his car; backed his car up and then put it in drive and then he hit Terry Carter. He ran him over twice.”

Knight had currently been out on $500,000 bail after being accused last fall of stealing a paparazzo’s camera. In August, Knight was wounded in a shooting at a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party in Los Angeles. Knight was also shot at a pre-VMAs party hosted by Kanye West in 2005.

Death Row Records dominated the West Coast hip-hop scene of the early to mid-1990s, releasing albums such as 2Pac’s All Eyez on Me, Dr. Dre’s The Chronic and helping to develop performers such as Snoop Dogg.
